Tempting as it was to wear this as a snazzy bracelet, it isn’t one! Read on –
Writing this post got me thinking – what does a long car journey say to you?
For me it reminds me of being small, and with the Cortina packed to the gunnels for two weeks in Cornwall, being wedged in to the back seat and braced for half a day in the car.
Dad would always try to make it fun though, and we’d play all of his ‘fun car games’ such as ‘first one to see’ and seeing as he was in the front with the clearest view, he’d always win haha
The other game was counting number plates – he even had a book that he would write in to remind him what number plate we were up to – I never really understood the rules so tried to peep into people’s car windows as we sped past, instead. Always have been nosy!
He’d have proper travel sweets in the glove box, and if we were really well behaved, he’d open them, shake off the sugar (although I always though it was flour) and pass them round. THAT was what signified the importance and length of our journey. We weren’t allowed the travel sweets unless we were actually travelling! And certainly not on the school run or a mere trip to the grandparents’ .
Years later, I look at the travel sweets with the familiar round tin and wonder if we really deserve them unless we are driving for HOURS. Did we even like the taste of them? I can’t remember!
Our car usually smelled of picnics. But we all loved the open windows and the smell of the sea as we got nearer to our beloved Cornwall !
Scents are so evocative aren’t they – you can manipulate a memory by using a scent over and over again – I wish we had had a definitive ‘road trip’ scent, so I could call on it when I want to be whisked back to those happy childhood holidays
Well now you can!
Yankee Candle have bought out a beautiful range of Car Fragrances that will subtly fill your car with a gentle fragrance, and what’s more, they are pretty!
No more cardboard frogs that give us a headache ! YAY!
Looking more like a charm bracelet than a car freshener, and with a refillable locket to infuse your car with whichever scent you pick. Choose your scent and use it to create happy memories by using it over and over in your car. The fragrance pod lasts for up to a month. The starter kit costs £9.99 and it includes your first fragrance pod. At the time of writing, you can get a nifty 20% off any starter kit using the code #YCRoadTrip
You can also personalise your freshener by picking out a charm or two, I have my eye on the High Heel Charm – no surprise there! And you can refill the locket with a different scent depending on the journey, season, your mood!
All in all, a very pretty little addition for your car. I wasn’t aware of these until this collaboration, but I bet if you are reading this as a Yankee fan, you’ll know all about them- which one is your favourite and why?
I can’t wait to bring you the next post, in November – when we will be thinking about Christmas and all things cosy!
As ever, thank you for reading, don’t forget to tell me which scent is your favourite so I can give it a whirl!
love
