AD in paid partnership with Very
Well February has been another busy month hasn’t it – culminating in weather like we have never seen before this time of year! I feel like it’s lulled us all in to a false sense of security and The Beast From The East could still make an appearance! Today I saw a lady wearing a vest and denim shorts – bold as you like walking about outside Sainsbsurys like it was July, and there was I thinking I was risking it by not wearing socks!
This month, Very challenged me to pick some furniture, on a budget, and style it in a room at home. I hadn’t ever looked at actual furniture before as I usually work on fashion posts, so I was keen to get cracking.
The choice is VAST!! I fell down a furniture rabbit hole and eventually, when I came up for air, I had a couple of goodies in my shopping basket.
They were delivered the next day and I broke the exciting news to to Gav…. who was delighted… LOL
My memories of flat pack furniture stem back to the 80’s and awful packs with impossible instructions and always, vital bits missing, and my Dad turning the air blue and Mum going in to damage limitation mode, and ushering us kids, out in to a room where we couldn’t hear him!
Let me tell you – this went together like a dream – Toby made most of this one (he’s 15) and then he passed the mantle and we put the other one together (the instructions said it would take 1.5 hrs but we had it done in 45 mins)
I love the nod to the 70s – and it fits a treat here! (shame about the tv on top but that’s boys for you! ) You can find the sideboard here – it’s £159 at the moment!
I loved the TV stand that comes in the same range, but it was too wide for this side of the fireplace, so picked the coffee table instead and I think it’s perfect! ( I know, another TV to add to the collection *rolls eyes at kids -this one came home from uni and ended up being a permanent fixture) The coffee table is £79 at the moment (worth noting that in the ‘Monty’ range, there are also bedside tables.
Here is the coffee table as styled on line, as a coffee table – …and here is a link to the TV unit
After all the excitement, it was time to feed the troops, and I got a bit fancy using my new hand mixer – I have had the same hand mixer since the dark ages. I nearly fell over at the difference – the Dualit mixer from Very is lighter, quieter, and LOOK where the plug is stored !! SO clever
Mason Cash have reinvented the rolling pin – by making it in to a flour shaker !
Mason Cash Imo, has always been the gold standard of mixing bowls, I have had the same, classic bowl since we got married – but mine never did this! There are dimples on this newly designed rehash of the iconic bowl, meaning it balances on its side – I can’t think why this is useful, but its a fab party trick and great for photographing what’s in the bowl!
I made Drop Scones – and for the first time, braved ‘dropping’ them straight on the Aga plate.
I have no idea what I’ll be tracking down next month – but I hope you like what I found for February!
As ever, thanks for hoping by
