Ok! I am SOOO not a fashion blogger, but seeing as I had lots of messages about my outfit last week, I thought I’d do a very quick post
I hunted for HOURS in town, to find the perfect dress – and I tried on 300 perfect dresses. Perfect on someone else, that is. Urghhh
I ended up drifting in to Monsoon, and took a gorgeous floral affair – almost retro, in to the changing room. Well, it looked lovely on the stick thin mannequin… OMG I can look 4 months pregnant at the drop of a hat, but in this dress, I looked like I needed towels and hot water delivered directly to the cubicle!! So I slunk back out, and in desperation I grabbed a few more.
When I tried ‘The One’ on, I wasn’t sure whether I liked it purely because the other ones had been so terrible, or if I liked it because my car park was running out, or if it was actually hideous and I only liked it because I needed a coffee and a wee.
Anyway – I bought it – here is the link TA-DAAAA! It’s in the sale at the mo, and is worth every penny! It’s comfy – flattering..I think.. and even though it might be a tiny bit short, with a bit of fake tan, it’s ok. (highly recommend Skinny Tan! Just don’t apply it at night and then wear a PJ bottom with a cuffed ankle…goes a bit stripy…if you watched my instastories, you’ll know..) Anyway, I digress!

clean lines and a simple cut, with pretty sleeves
I think that me and Edna (dress’ actual name!) might go to a birthday lunch soon, she is very versatile. So I am really glad I bought her!

delicate blush silk, under a pretty lace top
I wore her with a pretty pashmina scarf thingy from Accessorize and, should you need a fascinator to go with, there is one here! I’m not sure about fascinators but this one looked really nice. I prefer a massive hat, usually. (and a fake moustache…too far? ok.. asking for a friend, anyway.)

blush, with a sparkle
And some FAB shoes that I bought in TK Maxx – but I’ll give you the proper link as TK Maxx might not have them now And believe it or not they are really comfy !

Kurt Geiger for Carvella, KanKan
So there you have it! – Now, when I wore it, I wasn’t planning on blogging about it! So unfortunately I don’t have an appropriate shot, by an appropriate wall, pretending I don’t know I am having my picture taken by a patient Instagram Husband, who has been thorough a strict photography training regime.
My Instagram husband had already sniffed out the welcome drinks and was busy discussing the golf with the others haha! So here is just a snap, with my 3 ‘body guards’, taken before the jaeger bombs seemed like a good idea along with renditions of Ooops Up Side Your Head, with the youngsters looking on, confused. How can they not know what that is??? (Google it if you are younger than 25) ‘Mum?? What are you even DOING??’ You mean you’ve never done this?? you haven’t LIVED!!! Have another jaeger bomb darling, and join in!
Any suggestions for what I could wear to a wedding in July, will be very gratefully received ! Maybe trousers…
As ever, thanks for reading!
love
I love this post, and the dress and shoes look absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks Cheryl! Highly recommend if you are after an outfit xx
I too love this dress and have two weddings to go to this year! I was going to recycle old dresses but this would be perfect, the sleeves are particularly gorgeous but oh dear it is definitely too short for knobbly kneed old me . Please Monsoon take a leaf out of Boden’s book and offer two lengths…. Thought you looked fab in it and agree the shoes are lovely too! Ttfn Sharon x
It’s border line isn’t it – I agree! What about some clever 15 denier tights ? The smoothing magic ones you can get ? I was thinking I might try them. Or black leggings! There! Sorted! Xx
What a good start to my day reading this informative and sooooo witty!!! I might even go search that dress Have a super loooooonnnnnng weekend ☀️ xx
Thanks Carol! Have a lovely weekend yourself xxx
Brilliant post, as ever. You look amazing x
Thankyou kind lady ! Xx
I love it and hadn’t realised that you were quite so tiny, or else your boys are humungous, which I doubt. You look ever so pretty in it
